Recycle

Take advantage of curbside recycling--especially of paper, plastic, glass and aluminum. If recycling isn't offered in your area, encourage local officials to make it happen.

Shop Caringly.

Choose non-toxic chemical products, especially for cleaning. Pick refillable containers. Select seafood and other products from sustainable sources.

Reuse

Find a new purpose for containers rather than tossing them: nails and screws in jelly jars, game pieces in laundry detergent bins. Donate old clothes to charity. Reuse old linens and towels as cleaning rags.
